...be considered a supercar?

Well a 1.6 certainly can

I's not the size. It's how you use them.

Sure. If it has enough power and the car is light.
Not sure if the i8 qualifies then...

Sure

Anything is super if tech and performance justify. Not that I'm fond of it.

1) How fast is it?
2) How expensive is it?
3) How many are being made?
If you answered "Very", "You can't afford it if you have to ask.", and "They've already sold out of their run." then, yes. A 1.5L something or other can totally be a supercar.

It's not a super car. It's a sports car.

Yeah, I think so.
But do I think the i8 is a supercar? Ehheh... no.

formula 1 now uses 1.6L turbo V6's right?
so in that case my dad's '91 golf GTD is a supercar!
1.6 Turbo engine FTW
So yes, it is a supercar

You do have to appreciate the look on the driver's face.

title is a bit misleading as it is a 1.6L motor and electric motors. to answer the original question - yes, it's possible using a turbo busa/ZX14 motor, but there would be emissions/reliability concerns.
